They could only use replay in the first place if they're checking whether it was a home run.

As McCarthy pointed out, McKeon is the one who asked for a review, and he wouldn't have wanted them to see if it was a HR.

If the Phillies lose, MLB (Joe Torre) can review the game and if he deems the call to violate rules, it will be replayed from that AB.

    Howard on first.
Pence hits fly ball to right field,

replay looks like it would have landed about a foot below the yellow line,

Marlins right fielder jumps up to try to make the catch,

2 fans (in Phils gear) reach over and hit the right fielder's glove,

    ball is not caught

Pence goes to 2nd, Howard to 3rd,

    play is ruled a double,

Marlins manager calls for a replay,

after replay, umpires come out and rule fan interference and Pence is out, Howard back to first,

Manuel comes out to argue and is thrown out,

Phillies announce they are playing the game under protest.

That fan should get tazered, and so should Cowboy Joe West. The Bud Selig Method: Just make up the rules as you go.

What a travesty. Another example of Joe West overusing what little power he has.

"Instant replay applies only to home run calls--fair or foul, whether the ball left the playing field, or whether the ball was subject to spectator interference."

First, rule 3.16: "When there is spectator interference with any thrown or batted ball, the ball shall be dead at the moment of interference and the umpire shall impose such penalties as in his opinion will nullify the act of interference. APPROVED RULING: If spectator interference clearly prevents a fielder from catching a fly ball, the umpire shall declare the batter out. Rule 3.16 Comment: There is a difference between a ball which has been thrown or batted into the
stands, touching a spectator thereby being out of play even though it rebounds onto the field and a spectator going onto the field or reaching over, under or through a barrier and touching a ball in play or touching or otherwise interfering with a player. In the latter case it is clearly intentional and shall be dealt with as intentional interference as in Rule 3.15. Batter and runners shall be placed where in the umpire’s judgment they would have been had the interference not occurred.

No interference shall be allowed when a fielder reaches over a fence, railing, rope or into a stand to catch a ball. He does so at his own risk. However, should a spectator reach out on the playing field side of such fence, railing or rope, and plainly prevent the fielder from catching the ball, then the batsman should be called out for the spectator’s interference.

Fine. The fan clearly interfered with the Marlins player attempting to catch the ball. No problem with that part. My problem right now is with Cowboy Joe West, who shouldn't even be allowed IN a major league stadium under rule 11.69--the No Douchebags Allowed Rule, and possibly the worst umpire in the game, making a ruling under a rule that can't be applied to the situation. You know what? Every opposing batter that hits a ball to the fence at CBP, every ****ing fan in the front row had better reach over that fence and hit the glove of whatever Phillies player is trying to catch it.

According to Jerkoff Joe, if that happens, the umpires can review it and the batter is out!

West shouldn't be fired for this, but he SHOULD be fired because this is the latest in a list of ******** and black eyes that he gives the game by trying to BE the game itself.

With three games to make up, that's not happening. Let's just hope that the Phils take care of business even though they had two runs robbed from them by Jerkoff Joe West and it doesn't matter.
